Since Fall 2017, MWSRA, in partnership with MSI, hosts at least one mentoring and development clinic for new referees (less than 5 years of experience regardless of age).
Here’s how it works:
You will be paid for your normal 2-3 game set in either the morning or afternoon, but there will be a time slot added for in-between-game-mentoring from experienced referees. Snacks, drinks, and mentoring will be provided at the designated referee station area/tent.
Mentors will observe referee crews across multiple fields, take notes, and then offer feedback for discussion and questions during the development clinic and debrief sessions after games. The clinic will focus on broader tips, including, but not limited to, pregame preparations, crew communication, positioning, and game management strategies. This will be a good time to try a new age group or referee role too.
